St Mary's Hospital
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS TO THE CT SCANNER UNIT
Healthcare
Newport, Isle Of Wight
BACKGROUND:
A new mobile unit would be positioned at the north end of the hospital and serve patients waiting for vital and potentially life-saving scans.
REQUIREMENT:
To design, supply, and install an access ramp to the facility.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
END RESULT:
A Rapid Ramp was installed within a few hours to the mobile unit.
The whole process from the manufacturing, design, supply, and installation was handled in-house.
Our fitters travelled to the Isle Of Wight with the ramp components to execute the installation.
The Rapid Ramp platform was ideal as it has a loading capacity 1,000kgs, designed to safely support the weight of hospital medical equipment, including beds and trolleys as they are moved through doorways.
FEATURES INCLUDED:
- Trombone Ends - these are added to the ends of a Rapid Ramp to prevent clothes catching.
- Telescopic Legs - these can be adjusted to accommodate different threshold heights.
- Standard Handrail - this handrail system is designed to be grasped by the hand, to provide stability or support.
- Mesh Platform - a self-draining mesh platform allows water to pass through rather than puddle on the surface and potentially freeze. Minimum width: 1500mm.
- Standard Colour Black - Ramps are powder coated black to create a durable finish that is tougher than conventional paint.
EXTRA FEATURE INCLUDED:
- Yellow Tread - this is a safety feature designed to help those with impaired vision identify the nose of the ramp and helps users distinguish any level changes. The colour yellow is purposely chosen because as a bright colour, it has the ability to reflect light. Therefore, making it easier for the user to see whilst reducing the risk of trips and falls.
