Swansea University, Changing Facility
INCLUDED FEATURES: TACTILE WARNING SURFACE TO ASSIST THE VISUALLY IMPAIRED
Modular Building
Swansea, Wales
REQUIREMENT:
The installation of a ramp, platform, and steps to provide convenient access for students to the newly built modular changing facility near the running track.
The systems were required within a quick turnaround time.
CAD DRAWINGS:
2D and 3D drawings were produced by our design team using information provided by the client and by our site surveyor.
During the site survey, a Lidar scanner was used to scan and digitally map the entire area, encompassing the building, various floor levels, and any obstacles. This technology allows us to conduct site surveys swiftly, even under tight time constraints.
Once the data was collected, our in-house drawing team was able to generate a 3D representation of the systems on top of an accurate depiction of the real location.
END RESULT:
Our in-house team efficiently managed the entire process, covering design, production, and installation, completing the whole job in just six days.
The ramp and platform run parallel to the building and feature compliant step units for easy access by abled-bodied users.
Preceding the step approaches, a corduroy surface was installed to offer a tactile warning for visually impaired individuals.
EXTRA FEATURES:
- Trombone Ends - Installed at the ends of a Rapid Ramp to prevent clothes from snagging.
- Continuous Handrail - Ensures users always have support to hold onto.
