ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATION (EPD) FOR RAPID RAMP SYSTEMS

Rapid Ramp’s modular systems are now supported by a third-party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). This document provides a clear, standardised assessment of the environmental impact of our access systems, covering their full lifecycle—from raw material extraction through manufacturing, transport, use, and end-of-life.

Developed in accordance with EN 15804 and ISO 14025, the EPD provides independently verified data on key environmental indicators, including:

  • Global warming potential (kg CO?e)
  • Energy and water consumption
  • Resource depletion
  • Waste generation and disposal
  • Potential impact on human health and ecosystems

This allows architects and specifiers to make like-for-like comparisons with conventional construction materials, such as concrete, using consistent, credible data.

REUSE MODEL: SUBSTANTIAL ADDITIONAL CARBON SAVINGS

It is important to note that the EPD reflects the environmental impact of a first-use ramp system only.

In practice, a large proportion of Rapid Ramp systems are reused through our hire service or redeployed via take-back schemes with national construction partners. These systems are refurbished and reinstalled across multiple projects, resulting in significant carbon savings over their lifespan.

In contrast, concrete ramps are typically single-use, with no built-in reuse pathway—making Rapid Ramp a more sustainable long-term solution.

CARBON COMPARISON SUPPLIED WITH EVERY ESTIMATE

To help clients understand the environmental impact of their access choices, every estimate we provide includes a carbon comparison between a Rapid Ramp system and an equivalent concrete ramp.

This includes a clear, project-specific graph illustrating the difference in embodied carbon, helping you demonstrate sustainable material selection to clients, planners, or internal stakeholders.

EMBODIED CARBON – RAPID RAMP (FIRST USE) VS EQUIVALENT CONCRETE RAMP

Please Note: The actual environmental benefit increases further with each reuse cycle.
